AUBURN — Dolor R. “Shorty” Dionne Jr., 70, of Auburn passed away on May 4, at the Hospice House surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with colon cancer.

He was born in Lewiston, Oct. 13, 1939, the son of Dolor and Juliette (LaPointe) Dionne Sr. He was a graduate of St. Dominic’s High School, where he enjoyed playing basketball.

On June 12, 1965, he married his love, Helen Gravel. This year they would have celebrated 45 years of marriage together.

Shorty began his work at the Hill Mill and then enjoyed managing his sister’s small variety store for several years. He worked for Quinco Fabrics for 25 years and most recently worked in maintenance for Walmart for six years until his retirement. He was a member of La Montagnard Snowshoe Club.

He enjoyed camping, watching movies, was an avid New England sports team fan and loved to give special attention to his dog Missy.

He is survived by his wife of Auburn; his children, Susan Vaillancourt of Auburn and her companion, Dan, Anita Dionne and companion, Gary Langlais of Sabattus and Steven Dionne and companion, Amber, of Florida; his grandchildren, Jennifer Dionne, Aaron and Mariah Vaillancourt and Kaja Dionne; his sister, Noella Breton of Lewiston; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

He was predeceased by his parents.
