Board: Sabattus Selectmen
Met: Tuesday night
Pole positioned
Issue: The town has been asking for a traffic light at the busy intersection of routes 126 and 132 for months.
The scoop: Traffic poles are being raised Friday, according to Selectman Mark Duquette.
Up next: Town Manager Rick Bates told selectmen the work should wrap by the end of summer.
Pole repositioned
Issue: Someone complained that the “Leaving Lewiston” sign on No Name Pond Road is currently placed 100 feet into Sabattus — well into the town.
Up next: Public Works is moving it farther back.
No more dump and run
Issue: In the past, the transfer station gate has been left unlocked, leaving people to sneak in, dump items like mattresses and tires — items that ought to be paid for — and sneaking out.
The scoop: That gate’s now being locked.
Up next: Bates also encouraged residents to report any illegal dumping when they see it.
Save the date
Issue: Town meeting is Saturday at 9 a.m. at Sabattus Central School.
Issue: Primary, referendum and school budget voting is June 8 at the town office, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
