Matthew Karl Strout, son of Ralph Strout of Lewiston and Joan Rowe of Lewiston, graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maine at Orono on May 8, with a degree in political science.

He is a member of Alpha Delta, a service fraternity that fundraises for charities and the university. He is also a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honor society. He was president of Mock Trial for four years, traveling to universities in Massachucetts, New York and Connecticut to compete in mock legal trials.

Strout is a 2005 graduate of Lewiston High School and he is planning to attend law school.
