Editor’s note: These are the final profiles of children seeking adoption through A Family For ME because the agency’s funding has been cut, forcing it to close.

Born in August of 1994, Ricky came into foster care in October of 2003 with his brother. His brother has since been adopted and the two have occasional contact with one another, which would be important to continue.

A pleasant, funny and outgoing teenager, Ricky has been described by caregivers as laid-back. His interests include basketball, swimming, skateboarding and hanging out with friends. He enjoys watching TV and movies, but also likes to be active outdoors.

Ricky is an average student who receives special-education services in all of his classes. He benefits from one-on-one attention and does well with activities that require him to use his hands. Because he does not respond well to sudden changes and is less compliant when he is tired or stressed, he sometimes poses behavioral challenges.

Ricky hopes to be adopted by a two-parent family, possibly with children and pets, that enjoys going places rather than spending a lot of time “sitting at home.”

An adoption subsidy may be available.

Born in August 1997, Maliek is a smart and energetic teen. He has an engaging personality and likes to make people laugh.

He attends public school, where he receives special-education services to help him stay on task and complete his work. He is interested in learning about human science.

When indoors, he likes to play Pokemon, watch TV and play video games. Outdoors, he enjoys fishing and biking. He helps out with chores around the house when asked and said he tries hard to keep his room clean.

Maliek wants people to know he is a caring and loving person. He is learning how to be more honest and says that is an important goal in his life.

He’d like to be adopted by a loving family that gives hugs and kisses and has pets. Maliek has siblings with whom he’d like to keep close contact. An adoption subsidy may be available.
