Bible school

JAY — Bean’s Corner Baptist Church will host its annual Vacation Bible School from Monday to Friday, June 21 to 25. The theme this year is “SonQuest Rainforest,” a program that includes lively songs, Bible lessons, crafts, snacks and games.

Classes are available for children in prekindergarten through grade six. Hours will be 9 to 11:45 a.m. each day, with a closing program at noon June 25. For additional information, call the church at 645-2925.

Music show

SALEM — A music show with the Narrow Gauge String Band will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 13, at the Salem Community Building. Refreshments will be on sale and a donation box will be at the door.

FARMINGTON — A large yard sale will be held rain or shine, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at Pinewood Terrace, 136 Rosewood Drive, behind the fairgrounds. For more information, call 779-0511.

Church concert

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Baptist Church will host the Singing Women of Texas, an 80-member group sponsored by the Baptist General Convention of Texas, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 12. The performance is a benefit concert and the proceeds will go to provide a roof on a church in Haiti.

Community luncheon

FARMINGTON — Old South First Congregational Church will serve its monthly free community luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 12. The menu will include hot dogs and hamburgers cooked on the grill, coleslaw and cookies.

Pesticide notification

AUGUSTA — Mainers who want to be notified about agricultural pesticide spraying near their homes may sign up for the 2010 Maine Pesticide Notification Registry. Open enrollment closes Tuesday, June 15. 

Any resident of Maine property within a quarter mile (500 feet for fruit trees or Christmas trees) of land where agricultural pesticides are applied by airplanes, helicopters, mist blowers or air-blast sprayers can be notified in advance.
