Robin Dow seniors

AUBURN — Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, at the Alden M. Gayton Post 31, American Legion, 426 Washington St. The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m.

The annual food sale will be held and members are reminded to “cook much in small packages.” Garden vegetables and flowers or cash donations will also be appreciated. After a bag lunch, bingo will be played.

Pine Cone chapter

AUBURN — Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 10, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. The chapter will honor Past Matrons and Patrons. The Knights of the Sun DeMolay Chapter will present a special program.

The meeting will be preceded by a potluck supper at 6:15 p.m. All Eastern Star members are welcome.

Dwinal chapter

MECHANIC FALLS — Dwinal Chapter 28, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, at the Masonic Hall. Before the meeting there will be a barbecue at 6:30 p.m. Attendees should bring some meat to grill and a salad or dessert to share.

During the meeting the chapter will honor Past Matrons and Past Patrons. All members of the order are welcome.

Grange dinner

AUBURN — Members and guests of Danville Junction Grange will dine at the Village Inn at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 10. Reservations must be made by calling Glenys Ryder at 783-6897. The business meeting will convene at the hall at 7 p.m., during which the third and fourth degrees will be conferred on several candidates, and election of officers will be held.

‘Food for thought’

LEWISTON — The Senior College “Food for Thought” luncheon program will conclude its current season on Friday, June 11, at USM/Lewiston-Auburn, with a presentation on the Arts in Education by Doreen Morgan, grant director of L/A Arts.

Arts in Education is the after school movement that L/A Arts has been concentrating on in fulfilling its educational mission of bringing the arts to the classroom.

Senior College presents the monthly noon program in the Function Room 170 at USM-LAC. The cost, which includes lunch, is $7 with advance reservation or $8 at the door, opening at 11:30 a.m.  Reservations must be made no later than noon Thursday, June 10, by phone at 753-6510. Any late callers will be considered as “at the door.”

‘Voices’ lecture

LEWISTON — Discover more about Lewiston-Auburn’s diverse immigrant population when Museum L-A’s “Voices” lecture series continues at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 10, with “Journey to America, Weaving a Cultural Tapestry.”

Featured speakers will include Mexican, Somali, Sudanese, Somali Bantu and Chinese neighbors who now call the Twin Cities their home. They will share how they came to resettle in Maine and some of the challenges and benefits of their relocation.
