Military network

LEWISTON — The Maine Military and Community Network will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 10, in Room 170 at the Lewistion USM campus, 51 Westminster St.

Lynne Maxfield-Cole, an interior designer, will present. She has an expertise in universal design, which includes principles and products to make homes safe, functional and pretty for individuals coping with physical or emotional challenges such as amputation, PTSD, stroke, blindness, feebleness or mood disorders.

The mission of the network is to develop and maintain a multi-group network among community, military, government and private sectors that creates awareness of challenges and resources and provides services to all service members and their families throughout the deployment cycle.

Dinner and music

LEWISTON — The Lots to Gardens’ Summer Youth Gardeners and Youth Interns will host a dinner, with music, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 11, at the St. Mary’s Nutrition Center, 208 Bates St.

Proceeds will support the youth in attending the 12th annual Rooted in Community Conference this summer.

Flag Day services

LEWISTON — The members of the Lewiston Elks Lodge will hold their annual Flag Day services at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 13, at the Lodge, 1675 Lisbon St. The ceremony will last approximately one hour. The service is open to the public and all are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Bottle drive

LEWISTON — Boy Scout Troop 160, sponsored by the Prince of Peace Parish, will hold a bottle and can drive on Saturday and Sunday, June 12 and 13. The proceeds will be used to help support the troop’s camping program.

Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on June 7 were as follows: first, Dick Allen and Richard Balian; second, Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird; third/fourth tie, Alberta Turner and Anna Vitiello with Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe.

Games are played at 9 a.m. every Monday and a partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 754-1431 for information about all duplicate bridge games.

Burnt Meadow

LISBON — Regent Sheila Desgrosseilliers has announced that the Burnt Meadow Chapter, Daughters of The American Revolution, will meet at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at the home of Jayne Bickford in Lisbon Falls. In observance of Flag Day on June 14, Boy Scout Troop 109 under the leadership of Scoutmaster Allen Ward will conduct a demonstration of the proper folding of the American flag.

The scouts and members will be treated to ice cream sundaes following the ceremony. For more information, call 777-3125.

Senior trips

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens are offering the following trips. There are spaces available for Spirit of Boston on Tuesday, June 22 , including a cruise, buffet luncheon and entertainment. On Thursday, July 8, the group will attend a dinner show in Boston. On Wednesday, July 14, there will be a trip to North Shore Theater to see “Gypsy.” The group will stop at the North Shore Shopping Mall for lunch.
