AUBURN — Openings are still available for Camp Connor, the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA’s summer day camp. Camp will begin the week of June 21 and campers can sign up for the entire summer or any number of individual weeks.

The camp is gearing up for its 44th year and has announced that through a partnership with the Auburn School Department, a free lunch will be provided to every camper.

Camp Connor is a Maine-licensed co-ed day camp for children entering grades one through eight in the fall. Located on Lower Range Pond, combined with a large playing field, beach, wooded areas and an expanded main lodge, Camp Connor offers a natural environment for children.

Camp Connor will also offer Senior Villagers (seventh- and eighth-graders) the opportunity to enroll in certification programs. Parents can sign their campers up for CPR, week of July 12; first aid, week of July 19; and baby-sitting, week of July 26. Some of the classes may require an additional charge.

The camp will be directed by Josh LaPrell and assisted by Louise Tirabassi. LaPrell has a degree in early childhood education and was previously the assistant child care director at the YMCA. He also earned his Day Camp Director Certification through the YMCA.

Free transportation is provided to and from Camp Connor at designated pick-up and drop off points, as well as free pre- and post-camp care, from 7 to 8:15 a.m. and 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., at the YMCA.

Enrollment is limited to 144 kids each session. The YMCA accepts the TOPS Scholarship, affording eligible fourth- through sixth-graders in the Lewiston public school system $500 toward the cost of camp.

For more information, contact LaPrell at [email protected] or 795-4095, or stop by the YMCA, 62 Turner St.
