LEWISTON – The tallies for five local legislative primaries are in and the winners can now prepare for the general election this fall.

John Patrick of Rumford defeated Daniel L. Smiley of Jay in the Democratic primary for Senate District 14 in Oxford County by a vote of 2,323 to 589, according to unofficial results.

Garrett Paul Mason of Lisbon Falls topped Russ Pack in the Republican primary for Senate District 17 in Androscoggin County by 1,961 to 1,428 votes.

In House District 80, which comprises Litchfield, Monmouth and Wales, Democrat Raymond Simond of Monmouth faced off with Scott R. Wing of North Monmouth. Wing defeated Simond 529 votes to 182.

Also in House District 80, on the Republican side, Melvin L. Newendyke of Litchfield won with 502 votes over opponents Timothy A. McDonald of Monmouth who earned 385 votes and Jonathan D. Yellowbear of Litchfield who got 148 votes.

Jeffrey L. Timberlake of Turner won the Republican primary for House District 96 with 552 votes over Joshua K. Morris of Turner, who got 380 votes, according to unofficial results from Minot and Turner. The district includes Hebron, Minot and Turner. Results from Hebron were still not available on Wednesday.
