LEWISTON — The New England Celtic Arts will bring Gadelle, described as four feisty Prince Edward Island females, to three concert venues next week.

The quartet will perform Tuesday, June 22, at the Franco-American Heritage Center; Wednesday, June 23, at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center in Carthage; and Thursday, June 24, at Unity Center for the Performing Arts.

Curtain is at 7 p.m. at the Franco center and Skye Theatre and at 7:30 p.m. at UCCPA. Preshow jam sessions will begin 45 minutes prior to curtain at each venue.

Helene Bergeron and Louise Arsenault have teamed up with two newly acquired friends from the next generation of traditionally inspired musicians from Prince Edward Island.

After 10 years of touring the world with the seminal Acadian traditional band Barachois, Bergeron and Arsenault felt the need to reconnect with their home, families and other interests. They opted to leave the touring life, and Barachois ended. Yet through it all, they continued to pursue their passion for music — not just any music, but the music of their fathers, Eddy Arsenault and Alyre Gallant, and the many musical mentors from past generations.

After three summers of playing music on Prince Edward Island, numerous regional festivals and one or two in the United States with five young female musicians, Bergeron and Arsenault are touring again. This time as Gadelle and with two of those young women, Caroline Bernard and Anastasia DesRoches.

Just as Arsenault and Bergeron have inherited their understanding of music from their father and mother’s generation, so have Bernard and Desroches — but from Arsenault and Bergeron’s generation.

Bernard is the daughter of well-known singer-songwriter Jeanita Bernard. DesRoches’ repertoire mixes compositions by contemporary peers and her original music. She has been a featured performer in shows throughout Canada as well as in France and the United States.

Tickets are $12 at the Franco center and $10 at Skye and Unity. For reservations, call the Franco center at 689-2000, Skye Theatre at 562-4445 or UCCPA at 948-7469. The Franco center is at 46 Cedar St., Lewiston. Skye Theater is at 2 Highland Drive off in Carthage. UCCPA is at 42 Depot St., Unity.
