Bessey 12, Swasey-Torrey 5
DIXFIELD — Brandon Chase hit a three-run home run and Matt Verrier and Cody Hadley had three hits apiece to lead Bessey Motors to a 12-5 win over Swasey-Torrey on Monday in a battle of teams representing schools that won state championships last weekend.
Bessey Motors features players who played for Class A champion Oxford Hills, while Swasey-Torrey consists mostly of players who played for Dirigo, which won the Class C title.
Trailing 3-2, Bessey scored four runs in the third inning and four more in the fourth to take command.
Tyler Chaisson and Arik Fenstermacher had three hits apiece for Swasey-Torrey.
Gayton 16, N. Oxford 0
LEWISTON — Alex Wong fired a no-hitter, going one batter over the minimum, to lead Gayton to a 16-0 victory over Northern Oxford County in an American Legion Zone III baseball game Monday.
Wong struck out seven and walked just one in his bid for perfection.
Joe Sullivan led the offense with three hits, including a double for Gayton (3-0). Wong, Mat Gordon and Ben Wigant also had doubles. Wigant and Alerx Hall had two hits each.
Derek Volkernick took the loss for the Rumford club (0-3).
Bethel 14, Mechanic Falls 2
POLAND — Bethel took advantage of 11 walks and three doubles to defeat Mechanic Falls, 14-2, in a five-inning Zone III American Legion game Monday.
T.J. O’Connor and Alec Manning led Bethel’s nine-hit attack with two apiece, while Jeb Clark, Dan Whitney and Manning all rapped doubles. Ben Field picked up the win for Bethel (1-2). His only mistake was giving up a two-run homer to Connor King in the third inning. He gave up six hits and struck out seven in five innings of work.
Dillon Douglass and Devin Goyette had two hits each for Mechanic Falls (0-1).
