Putting on a rock musical
New England Youth Theater will open its production of “13,” a Broadway rock musical from Tony-Award winning composer Jason Robert Brown, on Thursday, June 24, at the Chocolate Church Arts Center in Bath. Assuming a principal role is Lillian Ramser of Turner, far left, a junior at Leavitt Area High School. At Leavitt, she has played the roles of Dorothy Gale in “The Wizard of Oz” and Eliza Doolittle in “My Fair Lady.” She was also Beaconsfield in the youth theater’s production of “Jeckyl and Hyde.” The show will open at 7:30 p.m. and run through Sunday, June 27. “13” tells the story of young Evan Goldman, who is forced to move from New York City to Indiana. In a middle school in Appleton, Ind., 13-year-olds find themselves struggling to survive classes and to make it into the “cool” crowd.
