Last year, 35 local photographers braved heavy rain to photograph textile mill buildings and the Riverwalk during the LA Photowalk.
They did so as part of the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk, which involved more than32,000 people in 900-plus locations around the globe.
This year, on Saturday, July 24, the LA Photowalk will focus on the historic buildings in a section of downtown Auburn including Main, Elm, Spring and Court streets.
The event is open to anyone with an interest in taking photographs of the community.
So, what exactly is a photo walk?
You take yourself and a camera to the back deck of Holly’s Own Deli in Auburn, 84 Court St., Auburn, between 6:45 and 9 a.m., to meet up with other photographers. From there, you’ll venture out into the designated area and snap photos. You walk around, taking photos for a couple of hours, then gather back at Holly’s to compare and share.
Participants may submit their favorite photos from the day to photowalk leader Tammie Grieshaber to be put in the running for a grand prize.
You need bring only yourself and a camera. You may bring a cell phone or a top-of-the-line camera and an assortment of lenses and accessories. Just remember that whatever you bring, you’ll be carrying throughout the walk.
The walk is limited to 50 participants. Sign up online at worldwidephotowalk.com/walk/auburn-me-united-states/. For more information, e-mail Grieshaber at [email protected].
