Bouffard’s Furniture has been a fixture in Farmington since 1962, when they opened in the downtown area. They have been in their current location on the “strip” since 1968. Jim Bouffard has been active with the Chamber of Commerce since he opened the store in the 60’s with his brother Gary.

Jim was active as a board member of the Chamber back in the 60’s when they just started to really grow. He recruited many members, “at least 60 in one year,” he recalled recently. “People used to think that the Chamber was just a benefit to the motels and restaurants back then,” he said. “It took some convincing to make them realize that the increased tourism helped everyone in the area.” Jim went on to say how the chamber has come a long way since then, and it is really fun to watch it grow. He tried many different things over the years to help his business grow, but one thing remained constant – his membership to the Chamber. “If you are in business, you should be a member,” he said. “They’re supporting the whole area.”
