LEWISTON — Shirley A. Welch, 74, of Oxford died Tuesday, June 22, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Burlington, Vt., on Aug. 11, 1935, the daughter of Robert and Violet (Jerome) Couture. She attended schools in Burlington and was a graduate of Burlington High School.

She worked as a certified nursing assistant for many years aiding people in there homes and also for Winthrop Manor.

She is survived by her children, Linda, James, and Kenneth Powell, Mark and Joseph Welch, Norma Tenney and Jackie Crocker; her siblings, Janet Child and Emery Couture; 19 granchildren, including her longtime caregiver and granddaughter, Laura; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a granddaughter; and a brother.
