It is expected that “Bill” Carrigan of this city, a catcher on the Boston Americans, who has been ill with tonsillitis for several days, accompanied by Speaker, an outfielder, who has also been in poor condition, will arrive in Lewiston today and go to Carrigan’s camp on Lake Annabessacook for a few days.

50 years ago, 1960

The B. Peck Realty Co. has purchased the 46-year-old Strand Theater Building, 224 Main St, from Union Realty Co. for a price reported to be in the neighborhood of $100,000. Future plans for the big structure have not been determined, it was announced.

Purchase of this property gives B. Peck Realty Co. ownership of the entire block of property facing Main Street, between Chapel and Middle streets.

25 years ago 1985

Hudson Bus Lines still hasn’t received word about its application for federal and state subsidies for its Lewiston-Auburn operation, the company’s general manager said Monday afternoon.

Theresa Samson said she hadn’t heard anything about the application. She said she had “no idea” when to expect a decision.

Mrs. Samson added that she remains optimistic about the status of the bus line’s application for subsidies.
