PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Thousands of electric customers in Maine and New Hampshire are without power after a series of severe thunderstorms knocked down electric lines.

Just after 6 a.m. Friday, Central Maine Power was reporting 2,668 customers without power in York County in southwestern Maine.

Public Service of New Hampshire reported almost 4,000 customers without power in nearby areas of Madbury and Durham.

PSNH reported another 2,600 without power in Rindge.

Crews worked through the night to restore power, but there was no estimate of when everyone would get see their lights come back on.

Robert Bohlmann of York County Emergency Management says the storm “pretty well annihilated” the Indian River Campground in Eliot, but no injuries were reported.
