LEWISTON — Muriel Y. “Mem” Montreuil, 82, of Lewiston, passed away on Friday, June 25, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Auburn, Aug. 7, 1927, the daughter of the late Joseph D. and Laura Dionne Poulin.
She was educated at St. Peter and Paul School and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1946. Muriel was married June 30, 1952, to Emilien “Jerry” Montreuil, who predeceased her Oct. 8, 1986. She had been employed at Bates Mill, Continental Mill, Sableman Heel, Rangeley Heel and from 1970 until it closed, Etonic Shoe.
Muriel was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Sabattus since 1955, Ladies Auxiliary Knights of Columbus Council 106, Wallace Assembly Wives, a Cursillesta, Lewiston Senior Citizens and taught CCD at Our Lady of the Rosary.
She is survived by three daughters, Michelle Abbott of Lisbon, Mrs. Richard (Monique) Young of Oxford and Mrs. Paul (Merilda) Cote of Lewiston; eight grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson; two brothers, Roger A. (Rita) Poulin and Normand G. Poulin, both of Auburn; and a foster son, Gilbert Ringuette of Lewiston.
She was predeceased by her husband; and two brothers, Lionel and Jean.
