NORTH RUMFORD – Roger A. McGuire, 78, of Coburn Brook Road, died Thursday, June 24, at his residence following a long illness.

He was born in Andover, on June 15, 1932, a son of Harold and Catherine (Hutchins) McGuire. Roger was educated in Mexico schools.

He served his country as a Cpl. in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He married Carolyn Zale on June 8, 1957; together they celebrated 53 years of marriage and raised five children.

Roger was employed as a truck driver most of his life, having worked for Ethyl Corporation, Von & Sons, Arthur Ladd and retired from the town of Rumford.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Oxford.

Roger was also a member of the Roxbury ATV Club and the Rumford Point Volunteer Fire Department.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, spending time with his family and many motor home trips to Idaho.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Carolyn L. McGuire of North Rumford; five children, Gloria Hansen and husband, Kim, of Pocatello, Idaho, Joseph McGuire of Rumford, Regina McGuire of Murfressboro, Tenn., Carlton McGuire and wife, Penny, of Gloucester, Va., and Molly Lewin and husband, Kent, of Peru; two sisters, Elaine Gaudet of Mexico and Gloria Chamberland of Madison; many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Corinne McGuire.
