AUBURN — Transportation officials will take public feedback on proposed changes to Twin Cities bus service at two public hearings Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Citylink bus service is scheduled to debut longer, less frequent routes beginning Aug. 2 and Saturday service beginning Aug. 7.
Members of the Lewiston-Auburn Transit Committee have scheduled to public hearings to introduce the new schedules.
The first is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Auburn Hall. The second is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday in Lewiston City Hall.
Weekly bus service will be less frequent, changing from a half-hour to an hour between stops on a route. Instead, service will last longer. Buses will begin running earlier and will run later. Service will end at 6 p.m. each weekday, about 45 minutes later than it does now.
Citylink will run two Saturday routes between 9 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. The first will run through Lewiston, up College Street and across the Androscoggin River to the Auburn Mall. The second will run to New Auburn, then back through downtown Auburn to the mall.
To introduce the Saturday service, the committee has planned a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7.
The new schedule also introduces a new hub for Auburn service at the Hannaford supermarket on Spring Street.
Across the program, bus service is being expanded to Little Canada, the B Street Community Center, Geiger, Montello schools and Lewiston Middle School in Lewiston, Auburn Middle School and Edward Little High School, Auburn Plaza and the Auburn Mall Apartments.
