Bessey Motors 12, Bethel 1

BETHEL — Brandon Chase hit a solo home run and a double, and Bessey Motors took advantage of its opponent’s wildness to roll to a 12-1 victory over Bethel-Locke Mills in a legion game Monday.

A four-run outburst, backed by just two hits, in the first inning set the tone for the six-inning contest.

Kyle Farrar added a triple, while Matt Verrier chipped in with a pair of hits for Bessey (4-0). Erik Henderson fired a two-hitter and struck out seven for the complete-game victory.

Cory Howard knocked in the lone run for Bethel (4-4).

Smith-Tobey 9, Andy Valley 5

BATH — Smith-Tobey made Andy Valley pitchers pay for 10 walks to pull out a 9-5 victory Monday in American Legion Zone III baseball.

Andy Valley pitchers Isaac Smith and Colby Youland combined to limit Smith-Tobey to three hits, but the frequent free passes helped Smith-Tobey pull away with a five-run fourth inning.

Ryan Arnold homered and Brandon Hodges ripped a double and single for Andy Valley (0-7). John Frey picked up the win for Smith-Tobey, fanning four and walking three in six innings of work.
