Fifth- and sixth-grade students at Poland Community School worked with staff, students, families, and community members in order to host a Community Day on May 16. Sixty volunteers helped in order to extend the pre-existing Community Garden (established in 2009) to other areas of the school, establish a lupine garden with students in the first grade, create an herb garden with kitchen staff and build compost bins. Nineteen community members and local businesses donated 65 plants, three yards of mulch, gardening tools, gloves, snacks, beverages and lumber for the compost bins.
