OXFORD — They were only missing for a bit but on Friday Daniel Gillan and Larry Foster were where they needed to be.

The duo had hauled the 42-foot Ferris wheel to Oxford from Lawrenceburg, Ky., and customers were paying $4 apiece for rides.

Concern the ride wouldn’t make it on time didn’t even reach Foster and Gillan until they read about it in a local newspaper. Both said it only added to the ride’s attraction.

“She’s got some ghosts, but she’s a sweet old machine,” said Foster, a former U.S. Air Force heavy equipment mechanic.

Foster and Gillan said they had few doubts they would arrive on time for those attending the Nateva Music & Camping Festival this weekend.

“This is what we do,” said Gillan, a resident of Owensboro, Ky. “We go from show to show.”
