MECHANIC FALLS — The 121st annual camp meeting at the Advent Christian Camp on Route 121 will open at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 10, for nine days. The public is invited to attend all events free of charge.

The camp meeting was started in 1889 by an association of area Advent Christian churches. The evangelist is the Rev. Roger Brown, pastor of Calvary Bible Church in Meredith, N.H.

“Each evening we’re going to take a myth and we’re going to go to the word of God and replace it with truth,” he told attendees at a camp meeting rally June 27. His messages at the 7 p.m. services July 10 to 17 will begin with a selection from the book “Contrary to Popular Belief,” he said.

Pauline Phelps of Greene and Oxford will serve as Bible teacher. Her topic will be hope. The study will be held from 9:45 to 11:45 a.m. Monday through Friday, July 12 to 16.

Leading worship each evening in the 300-seat tabernacle will be Josh Brown and his team of musicians and singers from New Hampshire.

There will be a Vacation Bible School for children 5 to 12 years old from 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. Monday through Friday.
