RANGELEY — Pianist Andy Kahn of Philadelphia will present at this year’s Evening of Music at the Wilhelm Reich Museum, Dodge Pond Road. Kahn has performed at the event from 2004-06 and in 2009 and will return for a solo performance, “Jazz and the Standard Song,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 14.
Kahn’s repertoire will feature tunes from the songbooks of Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, George Gershwin and Richard Rodgers and Lorenzo Hart. Since be-bop and classic jazz are both based upon American standard songs written by these and other master composers, Kahn will also play some of his favorite jazz selections, lending his own improvisations.
Sharing anecdotes and special elements about the songs will lend a personal touch as Kahn will guide the audience through America’s unique contribution to the arts. Cost is $10 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.
Refreshments will be served. Tickets are available at the museum office and book store and at the Rangeley Chamber of Commerce. For additional information, call 864-3443 or e-mail [email protected].
