LEWISTON — City officials should select a contractor for 10 road-repair projects scheduled for later this summer.
Lewiston Highway Engineer said crews could be out paving as early as the last week of July.
Work includes several simple repaving projects as well as full road reclamations.
Three firms, RC Paving of Lewiston, Pike Industries of Lewiston and Harry C. Crooker of Topsham have bid on the jobs. The Lewiston Finance Committee is scheduled to select a contract at its meeting at 5 p.m. Monday.
“Once we have the contractor, we can begin working on the schedule and the order of project,” Enman said. “Right now we don’t know which ones will be done first and which will have to wait.”
Project this summer include:
— Resurfacing the ramp from eastbound Lisbon Street at Plourde Parkway. Plourde traffic will be detoured on to Westminster Street during that project.
— Repairing and resurfacing Webster Street between East and Webber avenues. Crews will do extra work between Noble and Moody streets, removing deteriorated pavement there and replacing it.
— Repairing and resurfacing Earnest Street between Hogan Road and Central Avenue. Crews will removing deteriorated pavement near the Central Avenue portion of the road.
— Repairing and resurfacing St. Patrick Avenue between Nimitz Street and St. Joseph Avenue.
— Repairing and resurfacing Biron Avenue between Scribner Boulevard and Baird Avenue.
— Repairing and resurfacing Fairmount Avenue between Cote and Valley streets.
— Grinding up the old road base and replacing it along River Road from Ferry Road for 2,700 feet toward downtown.
— Grinding up the old road base and replacing it along Shank Street from Webster Street to the end.
— Grinding up the old road base and replacing it along the entire length of Southridge Lane, a cul-de-sac off of Woodside Drive.
In addition, city contractors will continue working along Horton Street between Birch and Park streets. The city replaced water and sewer lines last summer and will be back this year to install new curbs and a new sidewalk.
