PARIS — Members of the American Legion Unit 72 met on June 9.

Newly appointed committee members include: Americanism, Sylvia Michuard Kessell; children and youth, Darlene Rogers; community service, Diane Klinger; constitution and by laws, Florence McLaughlin; Girls State, Joyce Linindoll; VAVS, Marguerite Johnson and Ruth Taylor; membership, poppy, education, public relations, treasurer and special olympics committees, Marilyn Ramsay; finance, Betty Decoteau, Lillian Herrick, Diana Rolfe, Sylvia Michuard Kessell; legislative, Joyce Linindoll, Lillian Herrick; executive committee, Darlene Rogers, Mary McLaughlin and Pat Varney.

Two new members were voted in, Berdina Whittemore and Martha Rae Beall. Two members recently passed away, Carol Bryant and Pat Foster.

Upcoming activities inclue:

Every Saturday night the Jones Dance Band plays old time music. Cost is $5. Lunch counter is open.

Saturday, July 17: The Hill Top dealers will be in the hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. buying and selling gold, silver and other items. Free admission.

Friday, Aug. 6: Maine Blood Center blood drive, from 1 to 5 p.m.

The American Legion, Church Street, South Paris, also sponsors beano every Tuesday night. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Beano starts at 6 p.m. The lunch counter will be open.
