STRATTON — Duluth Wing of Eustis will host the grand opening of a collection of Benedict Arnold artifacts on Saturday, July 24, at the Dead River Area Historical Society Museum.

Col. Benedict Arnold marched through Maine on his trek to Quebec City in the 1700s during the Revolutionary War. Wing has spent many years searching the area of Arnold’s march with a metal detector and has found a wide assortment of items left by Arnold and his men. He has what is believed to be the largest collection of artifacts from the march.

He will house the collection at the historical society museum and for the time being, it will be displayed in the Sam White Room. Wing will display the rare collection of Arnold memorabilia and share the stories of how they were collected over the years.

The museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 3p.m. For more information, call Mary Henderson at 246-2271.
