DIXFIELD — Dixfield-Dirigo Alumni Association held its annual banquet on June 21 at the T.W. Kelly Middle School with 113 members and guests attending a potluck supper.
Alumni honored the graduating classes of 1950 (60 years), 1960 (50 years) and 1970 (40 years).
Class of 1960: Gail (Perkins) Zachte, Judy (Bickford) Landry, Sharon (Hatch) Maillet, Judy (Holmes) Marco and husband, Hugh Daley and wife, Bill Dunn and wife, Cassie (Biden) Dawley, Sherry (Weston) Crow, Gail (Marble) McGuire, James Robinson, John Trubee, Maxine (Drown) Wyman, Sylvia (Mitchell) Mahoney, Sue (Norris) Siatras and Lucy (Howard) Callender and husband.
Class of 1950: Bernard Drury and wife, Pat (Crockett) and Ed Leslie, Norma (Palmer) Anderson and husband, Marlene (Luce) Porter, Richard and Janke (Dolloff) Swan, Ben Rand and Louise (Noyes) Wentzell.
Class of 1970: Harold Wilson, Anne (Ferris) Chamberlain, Sue (Kimball) Pascarella, Rosellen (Campbell) Taylor, Cheryl (Merchant) Myles, Judy Robbins, Julie (Stevens) Leavitt, Nancy (Witham) Pelletier and husband.
The business meeting was brought to order by President Betty (Berry) Stearns, Class of 1954.
Stearns announced scholarship recipients: Nic Crutchfield, Tyler Chiasson, Kyle Hutchinson, Dakota Turnbull and Jordan Holmes. An additional scholarship was presented to Linsey Brann.
The family of the late Lincoln Gordon, who was an alumni, teacher and coach up until 1959 when he left for Edward Little High School, were present to award Eric Bolduc a $1,500 scholarship in their father’s name. Sylvia (Mitchell) Mahoney presented a short skit.
Teacher Nat Weston, who will be 97 in October, was not present this year. She was attending a family wedding in Michigan. Her daughter, Sherry Crow, stated her mother had chosen the name for Dirigo High School.
The 50/50 was won by Linda (Frost) Hinckley of the Class of 1968.
The classes of 1948-1949 were represented by Connie (Brown) Tutlis, Keith Morrison and wife, Laura (Bordeau) and Homer Newell, Erlon Gill, Maxine (Tainter) Moore, Polly Puiia and husband and Ruth Ann (Newell) Holman.
The following states were represented: Washington, Florida, Massachusetts, Tennessee, New Hampshire, New York, Connecticut, Maryland, Utah and Arizona.
The banquet was held the same day as the Dirigo baseball championship game. Dirigo won 4-2. Dirigo High School has its own Web site at www.dixfieldhighschool.com. Thank-you letters were read from Kyle Hutchinson and Tyler Chiasson.
Hazel (Savage) Kennedy and Thirza (Holman) Towle were present, observing their 75 years as Dixfield graduates. Each was accompanied by family members.
