Rain-heavy clouds swirl over Sunday River Farm’s potato field in Bethel’s Mayville neighborhood at 4 p.m. Wednesday, before the thunderstorm opened up with a deluge. Two inches of rain fell in and around the Rumford area between 4 and 5 p.m., prompting a National Weather Service flood advisory for urban areas and small streams. Storm drains in Rumford were quickly inundated, creating large eddying pools on Route 2 during the downpour.
