DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Auburn Public Library will have a paperback book sale on Saturday, Aug. 21. We are looking for donations of paperbacks to sell and raise funds for the library. Donations may be dropped off at the Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St., Auburn, during our regular business hours. Thank you. — Jim Wilkins, jwilkins@auburnpubliclibrary.org

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am trying to find a copy of a cookbook called “Taste from the Country,” favorite recipes collected by the Chesterville Fire Department Auxiliary. It has a copyright date of 1978. My mom had several recipes in this cookbook, and I would like to have one to add to my collection of cookbooks. — Connie Verrier, 592-3956, cverrier@roadrunner.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for a recipe for Indian pudding. I am hoping that one of Sun Spots’ readers might have one they would share with me. Thanks. — No Name, Strong

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Is there anyone in the area interested in used greeting cards? I have many of various types. I would like to donate to any group or individuals who could make use of them. Thank you. — C.R., Roxbury

ANSWER: Sun Spots does not know of any local group that accepts them, but you can mail them to St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, Recycled Card Program, 100 St. Jude’s St., Boulder City, NV 89005, 877-977-SJRC (7572).

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m looking for a local place to sharpen reel (push) mower blades. I was referred to Mathieu Saw and Tool, but they sold their special sharpening machine last year. Has this come up before in Sun Spots? If not, can we ask around? — Toby, Auburn

ANSWER: Sun Spots has indeed addressed this question before, just recently as a matter of fact, but no one responded. As far as Sun Spots can tell, no one in L-A services these mowers. So she did some more research and finally had some success, although you will have to drive a bit. Art Beaulieu, Cony Road in Augusta, said he can sharpen those mowers and is very busy doing so now. You can reach him at 622-2579.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My mom passed away. She was diabetic and had some blood-monitoring kits, unused, with lots of lancets for each one. I would like to know if I could donate these to nursing homes, etc. I have no need for them, but someone out there must have a need for them. Thank you. — No Name, Lewiston
