Duplissis

CASCO BAY — The wedding of Jason M. Duplissis and Mary Phyllis (Millie) Heatwole was held Oct. 10 at sunset at Cow Island in Casco Bay. Matthew D. Ridgway, captain of the Wendameen, a three mast schooner, officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mark Heatwole of Chicago, Ill., and Sarah Collier Heatwole of Santa Barbara, Calif. The bridegroom is the son of Susan Duplissis of Auburn and Donnie and Diane Duplissis of Lewiston.

The bride was escorted to the altar by her father. She wore a V-neck, off-the- shoulder, floor-length satin gown, with criss-cross ties in the back. She carried white roses with blue delphiniums wrapped in gold ribbon.

The maid of honor was Anna Bell Heatwole, sister of the bride of Los Angeles, Calif. Matron of honor was Elizabeth Coppins, sister of the bride of Chicago. Bridesmaids were Evelyn Duplissis, sister-in-law of the bride and bridegroom of Lewiston, and Taryn Kiekow, friend of the bride of Santa Monica, Calif. The flower girl was Sara Coppins, the bride’s niece of Chicago.

The best man was Scott Duplissis, brother of the bridegroom of Lewiston. Ushers were George Parks, friend of the bridegroom of Boston, Brian Wright, friend of the bridegroom of Orlando, Fla., and J. Greg Shell, friend of the bridegroom of Tampa, Fla.

A reception followed at Cow Island in Casco Bay.

Before the ceremony, guests sailed the bay for two hours on schooners, the Wendameen and Bagheera. Once they arrived at Cow Island, the captain of the Wendameen performed the wedding ceremony at the top of a bluff at sunset. Guests enjoyed a lobster bake and champagne before being sailed under a starlit sky back to Portland Harbor, or for family and friends joining the bride and bridegroom, to Chebeague Inn on Chebeague Island for three days to enjoy island life in the fall.

 The couple honeymooned in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles.

The bride received her bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee, her JD from Boston College and an LL.M. from Boston University. She is a trust and estates attorney.

The bridegroom received his bachelor’s degree from Bentley University and a master’s degree, also from Bentley in Waltham, Mass. He is employed as a consultant manager for Deloitte Consulting, LLP.

The couple now resides in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
