LIVERMORE — Four people were taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon following a head-on crash on Federal Road in Livermore.
According to the WMTW Channel 8 website, the accident occurred about 2:45 p.m. near the intersection with Norton Road and is being investigated by the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department.
WMTW reported that Lillian Pawney, 75, of New Vineyard was headed north on Federal Road, also known as Route 4, driving a 2003 Ford Taurus when she crashed head-on with a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Kevin McLane, 39, of Raymond.
Pawney and McLane were both flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries. Information about their conditions was not available Sunday night, according to a nursing supervisor at the hospital.
Both passengers in McLane’s Jeep, an adult and juvenile, were also taken to CMMC. Their names were not available as of Sunday night.
Emergency crews had to use extrication tools to get everyone out of the wreckage. The cause of the crash remained under investigation as of late Saturday night.
