PARIS — A 38-year-old man pleaded not guilty Friday to several charges resulting from a home invasion that took place in Fryeburg in December.

Brian K. Parmenter of Kids Corner in Fryeburg entered the plea before Justice Robert Clifford in the Oxford County Superior Court. Parmenter is charged with burglary, two counts of assault, and four counts of criminal use of disabling chemicals. He is free on a $1,000 unsecured bail, and must not have contact with the four victims and one nine-year-old child; not use or possess alcohol, illegal drugs, or dangerous weapons; and submit to random searches.

Three other people charged in the case have the same conditions. Parmenter’s son, 18-year-old Brian Parmenter II of Kids Corner in Fryeburg, was scheduled to appear for arraignment on Friday but defense attorney John Jenness Jr. said he is currently incarcerated in Carroll County, N.H. Parmenter’s son is charged with burglary, two counts of aggravated assault, and three counts of assault in Oxford County.

Also charged in the incident are Matthew J. Bodeau of Haley Town Road in Brownfield and Cody S. Osgood of Bridgton Road in Fryeburg. Both men are 18 years old and charged with one count of burglary and two counts of assault each. Osgood has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and Bodeau has not yet been arraigned.

According to an affidavit by officer Nicholas Cole of the Fryeburg Police Department, the group is accused of assaulting 40-year-old Burnham Boucher and then 38-year-old Michelle Boucher at their residence on North Fryeburg Road, as well as their then 20-year-old daughter Catherine Emery and 30-year-old family friend Brian Saxe.

The confrontation arose after Burnham and his 22-year-old son allegedly accused Parmenter and his son of stealing from them. Emery said a group of five people came to the residence, and during an argument Parmenter sprayed all four people with mace or a similar substance. The men are accused of assaulting Burnham and Saxe, with Parmenter’s son accused of hitting them with a metal folding chair.

Emery recognized Parmenter and his son, and later identified Bodeau and Osgood from photographs as suspects in the assault.
