AUBURN – JFM/Buddy T’s Restaurant won a wild Auburn Rec softball game over the Outlaws, 17-15, at Pettengill Park.

Winning pitcher Matt Morneau helped his own cause with three hits. Other big hitters for the victors were Joey Scammon, Larry Gowell, Josh Knowles, Shaun Sturgis and Steve Small.

James Bixby went 4-for-4 and took the loss on the mound for Outlaws. James Bixby and Mike and Allan Hurd all had three hits apiece.

Tourney dates announced

Three upcoming softball tournaments have been announced.

There will be a 10-man Modified Pitch Softball Tournament to be held on Augusta fields on August 28 and 29. ASA rules apply. There is a $150 entry fee. Deadline to enter is August 19.

The Augusta Labor Day Classic Softball Tournament will take place at Augusta fields on Sept. 4 and 5. ASA rules apply. Pitching rules include 6 to 12-foot arc. Tournament is open to Class D teams only. Entry fee is $150. Deadline is August 26.

Maine USSSA Coed States are set for Saturday, August 7 at Auburn Fields. Teams must consist of six men and four women. Winners gets a berth to the world championships at Walt Disney World. Entry fee is $220. Call 212-7424 for more information.
