AUBURN — A Lewiston man was charged late Sunday after giving new meaning to the “RubyTueGo” slogan of a popular Auburn restaurant.
David Michael Witas Jr., 41, of 185 Webber Ave., was charged with operating after license suspension, operating under the influence (two priors), violation of bail conditions and unlawful possession of inhalants. He was arrested after crashing his 2004 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle through the wall near the “To Go” window at Ruby Tuesday on Turner Street.
Witas’ SUV came to rest inside the restaurant. No one was injured as a result of the crash and it was unclear whether or not the establishment was open at the time of the accident.
The police report stated that Witas was “extremely confused due to huffing inhalants.” Sgt. James Robicheau stated in his report that Witas could not tell officers how he ended up running into the building.
Investigators determined that he was in the parking lot of the restaurant because the only visible tire tracks were in the grass between the lot and the wall. There were none leading from Turner Street into the parking lot.
