FARMINGTON – Merrilee Anne “Mickey” Smith, 65, of Wilton, passed over peacefully at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center on Wednesday, July 14, with family at her side.
She was born Nov. 24, 1944, in Wilton, a daughter of Thale Earland and Edna Lottie (Ranger) Smith. She was a graduate of South Portland High School and for many years was a truck driver for Crete Trucking, based in Indiana. She raised and trained race horses at a farm in Exeter. Her dream was to see her 3-year old colt, Willow Lane D race at Scarborough Downs. She was devoted to her family and close friends.
Survivors include five brothers, Cary Smith of Augusta, Ga., Larry Smith of Albany, Ga., John Smith of San Fernandino Beach, Fla., Bruce Smith of Wilton and Dennis Smith of Reno, Nev.; two sisters, Sandra Dixon of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Sharon Pelletier of Peru; several nieces, nephews, cousins and very close lifelong friends who shared her love of harness racing.
Her family is forever grateful for the loving care she received at Edgewood.
