JAY — A Livermore Falls man remained in the Franklin County jail Tuesday morning after several people identified him as the person videotaped breaking into Spruce Mountain Pharmacy on Sunday morning.
Lucas Caron, 19, was arrested on a felony charge of burglary and misdemeanor charges of stealing drugs and criminal mischief Monday night after the Jay Police Department posted the video on its Facebook page, Chief Larry White Sr. said.
Soon after the video was posted, someone called police and identified Caron. White released the video to several news organizations. It shows a young man breaking into and crawling through the drive-up window at the pharmacy. Once the video was aired, police received numerous calls, all identifying the suspect as Caron, White said.
Police found Caron at his parents’ home on Park Street. He was cooperative and knew the video had been on the news, White said.
More than $300 worth of Clonazepam, an anti-convulsion, anti-anxiety drug sold under the brand name Klonopin, was taken from the pharmacy. Caron gave all of the drugs to police, White said.
Caron worked alone in the burglary, White said.
Caron’s bail has been set at $250 cash; he is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 24, White said.
