STRATTON — The Dead River Area Historical Society will celebrate the life of Fred Hutchins on Sunday, Aug. 8. Hutchins was Fire Warden on Tumble Down Mountain and also started a hiking club with local children.
He was a talented artist and photographer and there will be many stories to share. The host will be Lee Henderson, who was one of the children in the hiking club. The museum will be open weekends from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call Henderson at 246-2271.
Public supper
JAY — A free public supper will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Main Street. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m., with the meal served from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The menu will include spaghetti, sausage, meatballs, salad, vegetables, bread, drink and desserts
Donations are welcome, but not necessary. Supplies are also needed and include items such as salad dressings, thin spaghetti, olive oil, macaroni, spaghetti sauce, milk and coffee. Call 779-6951.
