ANDOVER — The 59th annual flower show will take place Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Andover Historical Society building. This year’s theme is “Schools.” The 12 categories include:

Carrying Your Lunch to School, arrangement of choice; Old Schoolhouse Clock, arrangement using wooden container; One-Room Schoolhouse, wildflowers; Riding the Bus to School, herbs and grasses; Graduation Ceremonies, all white flowers; The Three “R’s,” arrangement in basket.

Also, Playing Games at Recess, 12 years and younger; High School Prom, mug or cup and saucer; Alumni Banquet, remembering someone special; First Day of School, single specimens (bottles provided); The PTA, houseplants; After-School Sports (professionals only), arrangement of choice.

Mountain greenery and accessories are permitted in all entries except single specimen. Single specimens will only be judged in bottles supplied by the historical society.

Entries will be received between 5:30 and 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6. Doors will be closed during judging and will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Entries are to be picked up between 3 and 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Awards will be given for first, second, third and honorable mention, best of show and judges’ award. No artificial flowers are allowed. Please limit your entries to one per category.
