SABATTUS — Following complaints from the Sabattus Lake Association, local and state officials Thursday night discussed the fish stocking program at Sabattus Pond. Officials agreed to continue the lake monitoring and observations when the dam is lowered.
The Sabattus Lake Association was concerned about the benefits of the program which has increased the stocking of alewives in 1985.
Barry Morrow, Department of Environmental Protection, who has been monitoring the lake’s quality since 1978, maintains that the data gathered so far does not indicate a lower quality of water and that the alewife population does not significantly affect other fishing.
