WINTHROP – The Winthrop Red Sox scored early and often and cruised past the Downeast Dodgers, 12-2, in Pine Tree League senior baseball.
Winthrop improved to 11-3 with one regular season game remaining.
Josh Nichols pounded out a double and two singles and scored four runs in leading the Red Sox offensive attack. Mike House, Brett Witherell and Sam Shain also paired up on hits.
Repeat offenders for the Dodgers (2-11) were Chris Howe and Eddie Crocker.
Eric Palleschi collected his second straight win from the mound, hurling the first five innings with relief help from Matt Richardson and Witherell.
