Ice Dawgs tryouts
LEWISTON – The Lewiston Ice Dawgs middle school hockey team has announced its 2010-11 registration information.
The Ice Dawgs will play in the Southern Maine Middle School Tier I League for the sixth consecutive year. Any boy or girl in grades six through eight and attending any school in Lewiston or Sabattus is eligible to try out.
Please pre-register online with USA Hockey and bring a copy of this year’s registration receipt to the tryout.
The season will coinsist of roughly 16 games, plus playofffs. Tryouts will be in September. Information will be posted soon. There will be a $20 non-refundable tryout fee.
The team also welcomes volunteers for the season.

TTT golf tourney set
WILTON – The Tyngtown Tee Time (TTT) golf tournament and picnic lunch is scheduled for Wilson Lake Country Club on Saturday, August 28. Format is best ball with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
Fee is $40 per golfer, which includes lunch. Cart is extra. Lunch for non-golfers is $10 and will be served from noon to 2 p.m. Call 645-2829 to reserve lunch.
Prizes, games, fun and music also are on the agenda. The tournament will benefit Wilton Library, pre-school program, downtown flowers and scholarships.
Winthrop ‘Y’ announces programs
WINTHROP – Winthrop Area YMCA announces two fall sports programs.
Youth soccer is available to boys and girls in pre-K to Grade 5. Program will operate on Saturday mornings at the YMCA Camp in East Winthrop. Program will kick off on Sept. 11. There will be some games with other communities for older groups. Cost for the program will be $25. Registration forms will be in the schools during the first week of school.
Youth Field Hockey is offered to grades 3 to 5. Program will operate on Saturday mornings at the high school starting Sept. 11. There will be some games with other communities for older groups. Auburn/Lewiston Y announces golf tourney
AUBURN – Each year the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA invests resources to subsidize membership and program fees for area youth to promote involvement in healthy, active programs.
Proceeds from the inaugural Y Golf Tournament, sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts, will support the efforts of the Y in engaging children in quality programs, addressing childhood obesity and developing character in our youth. The golf tournament is slated for Sept. 20 at Martindale Country Club in Auburn.
