NORWAY — Curious about what a retired, fairy tale witch does to pass the time?
The cast of the Oxford Hills Musical Performing Arts Association’s youth production of “Witches, Britches, Rings ‘n’ Things — A Patchwork of Folk and Fair Tales” can help answer that question.
In this one-act play by Dave Barton, a witch named Ethel receives a patchwork quilt as a retirement gift. Each patch reminds her of fun times and foolish characters, including the Troll, Raggety-Baggity and tricky goats. About 30 actors, ages 7 to 18, will bring these stories to life.
“We have such a rich arts culture in this community and I’ve been eager to open the theater doors to our young actors,” said director Carol Brown, a second-grade teacher at Paris Elementary School and a veteran OHMPAA performer.
Besides acting, local youngsters will showcase their vocal and musical talents. Performances at the Norway Grange will be at 7 p.m. on Aug. 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21; and 2 p.m. on Aug. 15. Tickets are available at Books N Things on Main Street.
