Society officers

WOODSTOCK — The following officers were elected at the August meeting of the Woodstock Historical Society: President Olive Risko, Vice President Annella Burnham, Secretary Vicki May Billings, Treasurer Paul Billings, Curator Larry Billings and Trustee Olive Risko.

For a research report, Paul Billings read from a book on Woodstock High School given by Floyd Keniston. Larry Billings reported the society had a successful year and attendees enjoyed a potluck dinner.

Fall shoot

EAST OXFORD — The Lake Thompson Fish and Game Association will hold its first public fall shoot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, at the club range on Paine Road.

Events will be running deer and trap shooting. Refreshments will be available at the clubhouse. For more information, contact Don Record at 539-4407 or Art Bellwood at 539-2322.

Funding available

ELLSWORTH — Start-up organizations, projects involving economically disadvantaged or disabled Mainers, libraries, symphonies, hospice care and projects related to Friendship, Maine, are eligible for funding from the Maine Charity Foundation Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.

Last year, the Maine Charity Foundation Fund distributed $96,428. The 23 grants ranged in size from $1,000 to the maximum award amount of $5,000.

Yard sale

LOCKE MILLS — There will be a yard sale and food table from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at the at Locke Mills Union Church.
