I was happy to read in Kathryn Skelton’s article “Crops early, plentiful” that so many farmers and gardeners are enjoying early, bountiful harvests this year (Aug. 17).

The month-early picking of pumpkins reported caused me to wonder, “Will there be an early Thanksgiving?”

YHWH, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Creator and Sustainer, has been mightily merciful to us and I, for one, have been thankful.

I hope your readers will join me in many prayers of thanks as the season’s harvest continues to its final days and into all the wonderful jars of jams, pickles and preserves that many hands have put up for the long, cold days ahead.
