AUBURN — Loretta Dionne, 84, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully early Sunday, Aug. 22, after several months of declining health.

Born in Lewiston on Feb. 25, 1926, she was the daughter of Alcide and Blanche Begin Bedard. She was married to her husband, Roland Dionne, for 47 years until his death in 1993. She was a member of Holy Family Church. Her Catholic faith was a source of strength throughout her life. She worked for local-area shoe manufacturing companies, but retired from Bates Mill after 40 plus years of service, where she met many friends, who continued to get together even after retirement. She was an avid beano player; at one time she would play every day, and had great luck on her side. She loved to play cards and games with her friends, family and relatives, and also kept herself busy making and donating afghans for the needy. She was a die-hard Red Sox fan.

She will be sadly missed by all who new her for her special, kind ways and her willingness to help her friends and family in any way she could. She will be greatly missed by her only child, Raymond, and his wife, Ann Marie, of Lewiston; her only grandson, Jason Dionne, which she adored and was so very proud of, from Auburn. She is survived by three sisters, Muriel Boutin and Lillian Morin of Lewiston, and Henrietta Charpentier of Santa Barbara, Calif; two brothers, Lionel Bedard of Lewiston and Ronald Bedard of Sabattus.

She was predeceased by her husband and a sister, Sister Jeannine Bedard, who we are sure greeted her at the gates of heaven; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Mary’s, the rehab unit at d’Youville Pavilion, and the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for their compassionate care. Also, a special thank you to a dear friend of Ray and Ann’s, Bonnie Deschaine, who went out of her way to help and care for Loretta when we were unable to. We knew she was in very good hands. God bless you. Donations and condolences may be accessed online at www.albert-burpee.com.
