GREENE — Security Shredding Inc., a document destruction company based in Greene, has achieved the National Association for Information Destruction’s highest level of accreditation and is now NAID certified.

Owned and operated by Donald J. Morin, Security Shredding has been providing data destruction services since 1990.

The criteria outlined for the NAID certification program stemmed from increasing state and federal laws and regulations designed to protect the integrity of confidential personal and corporate information. To be certified, the company had to prove that its operation was in compliance with current laws and regulations.

Current laws that require written information and protection policies and procedures include the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Financial Services and Modernization Act, the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act, the Red Flag Rule and various state data protection laws.

Security Shredding Inc. is one of only four NAID certified companies based in Maine.
