100 years ago, 1910

Auburn undertakers, making interments at Oak Hill Cemetery, have received numerous complaints from owners of lots in regard to petty thievery from the graves. Flowers and ribbons have been stolen and vases taken away, and this practice, thought to be the work of boys, has been going on for some time.

50 years ago, 1960

Lewiston Police Sgt. Laurier Morin has been selected to attend a special firearms training school sponsored by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Police Chief Roland C. Amnott reported yesterday the school will be held Sept. 19 to 23 at  Camp Curtis Guild in Wakefield, Mass. Morin will receive special training in the use of revolvers, rifles, shotguns and machine guns.

25 years ago 1985

The Lewiston Police Station Building Committee will meet Tuesday to review the recommendations of architect John Weinrich on which of five contractors will be awarded a contract to build the new Park Street station.

While a decision on the contract has not been made, workers have begun tearing down the former Coca-Cola building to make way for the facility.
