Blacksmiths to meet

WILTON — The Western Maine Blacksmith’s Association will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Wilton Historical Society. There will be discussion on upcoming events and new projects.

The demonstration will be by Rodney Porter on “How to Make a Nice Forge with no Welding Needed.” Visitors are welcome and are encouraged to attend. For more information, call Bill Reid at 778-2325 or Rodney Porter at 778-3033.

Garden club

FARMINGTON — Jo Thomas, an artisan from Tennessee, will be the featured speaker at the Mt. Blue Area Garden Club meeting at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14. Members and anyone interested in learning how to make glass birdbaths will meet at the Trinity United Methodist Church on Farmington Falls Road.

A social half hour will precede Thomas’ presentation, followed by the regular meeting conducted by Amy Palmer, president. Hostesses will be Agnes Brooks, Amy Palmer and Ann Woloson. For more information, call 645-2067.

Park celebration

JAY — The North Jay White Granite Park, 14 Woodman Hill Road, will have a five-year celebration from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11. All are invited for a day of hiking on the new wooded trail or a visit at the new gazebo overlooking the quarry.

There will be a tent set up with historical information regarding the quarry, as well as information on the new Chisholm Trails, the “Riverfront School Trail.” Trails are open from dawn to dusk. For more information, call 645-5079.

Parent program

FARMINGTON — The Maine Parent Federation’s Parent to Parent Program will present Support Parent Training from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at the Franklin County Children’s Task Force.

The program matches parents of children with special health care needs or disabilities to an experienced parent living in similar situations. Child care and dinner will be provided along with a $50 stipend and mileage reimbursement.
